STATE OF EMERGENCY fund

It’s been a week and my eBay activities have been somewhat successful. The amount in my emergency fund is now $130 plus the $60 or so dollars I have in the change jar. I have accomplished two things; I have increased my emergency fund by over $100 and I have cleared some of the clutter out of my house.

I have added two new ways to add to the emergency fund. I have opened an adsense account and you may notice advertising now on my blog. This doesn’t pay alot right now but it does add up. The other thing that I have done is to explore freelance writing. A friend encouraged me to do this and I am writing on Helium I started off with a bang there having a couple of articles rated #1 but went on a writing spree while competing in a contest and my ratings went down. I have learned that it is better to write less and better quality. I guess I got a bit cocky.

For the present time, I am keeping my emergency fund at PayPal. I signed up for the money market account and my balance earns interest. The rate is 4.7% right now which is competitive with most savings accounts. Once I get to $500 then I will move it to a regular savings or money market account and start over with my PayPal account.
