Steve at brip blap had a post in the Carnival of Personal Debt entitled spend less than you earn – the wrong way to think It definitely got some attention. He goes on to say that it’s not bad advice, it just won’t make you rich.

He goes on to list different ways of earning more than you spend which just suits me to a T. Let’s face it, not everyone is in a position to cut their spending by enough to make a difference. While I doubt that selling calendars with my pictures on them is going to make me rich, he does have some unique ideas.

The idea of multiple streams of income is a fairly new one for me. I was raised to go out, get a job, bring home your paycheck, spend it and maybe save a little of what’s left. Now we all know where that got me.

Thanks for the mention! It’s a fairly new concept for me, too. I didn’t grow up in a household where “striking out on your own” was ever preached, or even considered as an alternative. It takes some real effort to shift your mindset sometimes – but let’s hope we both manage to do it!
