Saving Money in Small Ways

Not having a lot of money to save makes trying to start and fund my emergency fund interesting. Everyone talks about keeping 10 % or 20 % every month and saving it but when you are in the hole, that’s pretty hard. Right now, my savings consist of $55 in change in a jar. Hey, it’s a start.
The Daily Change Savings Plan
Every day I clean out my pockets of any change that I might have. The silver change goes into one jar and the pennies into another. Some days I save a dollar and some it’s only 50 cents but I am saving something each day. When I get feeling broke and blue, I count it. It makes me feel like Midas but it also restores my feeling of accomplishment.
The Coupon Mom Plan
This one is a trial. I have read on Coupon Mom that you can save 50-60% off your grocery bill by following her plan. She has a pretty extensive website and lots of cool coupon tools including a database that gives you the sale prices at Walmart, Target, CVS, etc that matches the coupons on Sunday. She also has links to different coupon sites. BE FOREWARNED that you have to go through a TON of Free and Not so Free offers to get to register for her site. Then if you want to sign up for cool savings, you have to go through it all over again. Don’t get sucked into buying!! That defeats the purpose.
So I did some research and found that my local Lowes Food store offers double coupons. Woooo Hooo, now if I can just find some for stuff I want to eat. It’s truly a shame that I don’t wear diapers. There are LOTS of diaper coupons.
Here’s to ya!
