It woudl make more sense to do several full days a week rather than 5 half days, then the petrol cost would be lower. Telecommuting woudl of course be the best way, but it still does not seem to be an option for most companies unfortunately.

If I can find a part time job that is close enough that it would actually be worthwhile to work, yes. If not, I am going to have to look for something full time. The problem is that I am a minimum of 25 miles from the closest large town. That makes it a 50 mile round trip. With gas being over $3 a gallon, it will cost me at least $6.50 to commute. When you subtract taxes and commuting expenses, it really doesn't make it economically feasible to drive so far to work a few hours.

Are you getting a part time job? That should be able to give your business more time to grow to the point of the full time income you need. =) wishing you all the best!!!

Good luck in finding a job. Hopefully you may still be able to run your business part time and if it builds up you coudl do it full time again. It must have been a really hard decision, I know that I would find it hard to give up my business after 5 years of hard work and low profits I still want to give it a chance to prove itself.

Saph, I own a pet grooming business. I bought it in August and have been struggling to grow the business from part time to full time ever since. It's growing a little every month but not quickly enough. As for this blog, it is more of an endeavor than a business. It makes very little if any income.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I quit my job to stay home with my baby and had plans on getting into real estate investing to allow me to stay home and it just didn't work out as planned. I ended up working part time at a supermarket in the evenings and weekends so I could be home with my daughter during the day. I tried doing things and working from home but it just wasn't working. If only I started my blog then. I would've had more time to work at it and such. Anyway, it got to the point that I HAD to go back to work full time.
Don't be so hard on yourself. You have to do what you have to do.
What business are you referring to? Is it this blog?
It definitely isn't easy blogging while working full time. I have to fit it in between work and family.
Wishing you all the best in your job hunt!!

I just wanted to wish you good luck! Dont feel like you are giving up on your dream. This could be just a temporary thing. You just have to do what you have to do to keep your head above water. I just want to offer a piece of advice, dont settle for the first job that comes along, and make sure you find something rewarding, even if its just good relationships with co-workers.
