As you stated Jan. & Feb. Are typically slow in our industry, and this year it is A rough time to be in it for us all. And yet, if you can build while it is slow it will bring great rewards. A lot of notaries are getting out of the business and jumping into whatever they think the next get rich endeavor will be. Thats means if you persist, your business will grow.

Market yourself to the Title and Escrow companies in your area. Pay special attention to the receptionists, I get most of my referal work from them Rather than the Escrow officers. Also when it is slow, I go to the Jail and in the room where the lawyers have to check in, I put my cards there. Lawyers always need Notaries, and one willing to go to the jail is an added plus.

You may also want to take advantage of the Notary websites that offer free or low cost listings in your area. WWW.Mobile-Notary-USA.com offers a free listing in the county of your choice through the forum at www.Mobile-Notary-USA.net. Or for a fee under $10 you can list in all 4 areas
, County, City, Zip code and even Area code. Also there is WWW.123notary.com There prices are a little more expensive but it has been around for years.

Aaron - Thanks!

Shuchong - No, I am not going to declare bankruptcy. I would stand to lose my house and my business as I have too much equity and Virginia only allows a $5000 homestead exemption.

So I take it that this means you don't have to go through bankruptcy? That's wonderful:)

Also your chocolate cherry cupcakes look delicious. I'm gonna make me some of those soon!

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you.
