Fresh New Theme, Fresh New Outlook

I have spent most of the day installing and tweaking my new theme.  My old theme was not only depressingly brown but it came up with over a hundred errors on validation with Wordpress 2.5.  The new theme still has some errors but very few comparatively.  I wonder if any of them will validate with 2.5.

I chose this theme because it was a minimalist theme.  Not a lot of clutter in the header or in the theme itself and it reminds me of frugalness.  I wonder if that’s a word.   I am going to spend some time this week decluttering the sidebars.

With the new theme comes a fresh positive outlook on life.  Things are going to get better and it’s starting already.  Business is picking up at work and I have a full week ahead.

Some of the articles that I have read and enjoyed from around the net:

Lynnae at Being Frugal did a huge reader inspired list of 168 Frugal Tips To Survive the Recession.

Clever Dude at wrote on Who Do You Blame for Your Financial Problems?  This is one of the fairest articles that I have read in awhile.  Check it out.

Supercharged Life had an article on Mistakes I have Made in Running A Business.  I was really curious to see what he had to say.  I thought it might help me but I have managed to avoid the mistakes he mentions.

Ana at Debt Free Revolution has a post on some ways to save gas while driving.  I think the number one way should have been not to let teenagers drive.  I think they all are a little heavy on the gas or at least mine have been.

Thanks for the link … it’s ironic teenagers drive the worst for conserving gas eyt can least afford the price at the pump! A year and a half til mine starts driving, and of course he reminds me regularly.

I like the new theme as well :) Tends to say “frugality.”

I have a wide screed monitor and while I understand your concept the blog looks very bare in a wide screen. I think it would help to have a splash of color over the very top…or at least have the name of the blog stretch out to reach over the top of the posts.

Look at it on a wide screen in firefox to see what I am talking about. It looks sparse with all the white. Not trying to be mean…just realistic. :-)

Thanks for bringing my mistakes to the attention of all your readers! I’m glad someone had the smarts enough to avoid them.

    Happy Monday!

Lulugal, thanks for letting me know. I checked into it and it was actually breaking on high res or wide screens. Sigh! I will have to find another.

Jeff, Your mistakes weren’t all that bad. My own version of If you build it they will come was expecting clients to come flooding in the door just because we were open more days. Duh! I needed a marketing plan! You gave me a laugh though as I read your comment before my second cup of coffee this morning. It took me a minute to figure out that you weren’t serious. :)
