I thought I would post a few of my favorite budget articles. Some of these articles are recent and some are old favorites that I still go back and read.
On Budgeting:
Gather Little By Little has a couple of articles on creating a budget and another great one on why people don’t budget. I have found that I struggled with most of these reasons when I first got started budgeting.
The Simple Dollar has a great article on Budgeting 101: How a Simple Budget Helped Me And Can Help You Too. It is a great tutorial on the bare bones facts of how to make a budget.
The Digerati Life has How To Make a Budget in 10 Easy Steps. Emily used a spreadsheet to help her and recommends using YNAB or one of the online budget programs to help you.
Five Cent Nickel has an article on Streamlining Your Finances with Automation. For those of us that like to play with new programs, that by itself can be incentive to budget.
Finance For A Freelance Life has a whole month of budget articles. Mrs. Micah looks at just about every aspect of budgeting in her month long challenge.
I’ve Paid For This Twice Already has Budgeting for Dummies. She recommends Pearbudget which she says is as simple as a pen and paper.
Bible Money Matters uses Dave Ramsey’s Gazelle Budget Lite in his article on Jumpstart Your Economy: Doing Your First Budget
Squawkfox reviews Pear Budget as well and says that “Creating a budget just got sexy, fun, and delicious” Shoot, I don’t even think that budgets are sexy.
Finally, when I get discouraged I read these two articles over at Get Rich Slowly. They are both about his next door neighbor who is a retired shop teacher and millionaire. A Real Millionaire Next Door introduces him and then he later snags an interview to learn some of his secrets of financial freedom. I’ll give you a hint. His neighbor says to Spend Less Than You Earn!
