If you miss a payment on your Capital One credit cards, you get this nice note that says, Please give us a call. Our customer service agents are standing by and will be happy to work with you on some resolution for your account. Now in all honesty, I should have called when I first missed a payment but I had every expectation of paying off all the credit cards after closing on the sale of my house. And that expectation hovered just out of reach until it finally came crashing down in my desparate bargain basement sale of my home.
After repeated attempts to work out some resolution on my Capital One Credit Cards, I finally quit taking their calls. They begin calling at 7:30 in the morning and they continue to call until 9 pm at night. Generally about 3 times an hour. Now, I don’t owe them a whole lot of money. The credit limit on all three cards was only $1300 combined.
I have explained… it’s not that I don’t want to pay them. Up until this year, I have paid them religiously every month. Right now, I just can’t pay them. A friend recently offered to help me out and lend me the money if they would settle the accounts. So I called them. They were not standing by wanting to help. I was told that they would not work out any settlement on the accounts because they weren’t past due enough and their final answer was:
If you don’t pay the entire amount past due today, the phone calls will continue.

Remember, you can write to them and tell them NOT to contact you by phone, only US mail.
You may have to send it return receipt requested, but it will stop the phone calls. It the Law.
