Budget Review for February

It’s been awhile since I have done an actual budget update in cold hard dollars and cents.  Many of you are new here and if you have not read how I got into this mess, you can read it the four good decisions that brought me to my financial knees.

The reason that I decided to do this was from several questions that I have had about the advertising on this blog.  The blog is somewhat new and has done fairly well thanks to all of you, however, I am by no means a six figure, or a five figure or even a four figure blogger.  I am still struggling to find a way to monetize that both meets my standards and provides a benefit to my readers and still makes money.

To date, in 3 months the blog has earned a total of $72.46.  All of that is still held until it reaches the minimum payouts.  I spend about 30 hours a week researching, writing and promoting the blog.  I don’t even want to think what that works out to an hour because it’s a labor of love and it provides other benefits besides money.  It keeps me focused on improving my finances and some days it provides me with the motivation to put one foot in front of the other and keep going.

So here are the February stats.  They actually look ALOT better than December and January where I was at least $700 in the red both months.  March looks like it might be somewhat better and I might even break even.  If so, I will be celebrating on April 1st with the winners of the T-shirt contest.

Feb Budget

Oh, and this does not include payments on any consumer debt.  I hope to use my tax refund to settle or catch that up.  Thankfully, I have never been a huge credit card user and most but not all of that can be paid off this week.
