Actions from Brainstorm

Last week I had a reckoning with Quickbooks as you can see from my post here. After brainstorming with a few fellow bloggers, a few fellow groomers and a couple of good friends, I decided that the first immediate step I would take would be to do a mailing to past customers who had left for one reason or another.
I put together a newsletter and sent it out with links to the ebay store, a story about one of my groomers, and reiterated the full time hours and availability. One of the problems with the shop prior to this was that they were only open 2 or 3 days a week and booked up months in advance.
I mailed it out to my entire client base. Printing, folding, stuffing and stamping has taken me the last three days which is why I haven’t posted much. Blogging time turned into mailing time. As Calgirlfinance and Tasha suggested, I have also taken flyers out to local vets, the SPCA thrift shop and a couple of other places.
I’m still thinking about the self service option. It is something that we offer but don’t advertise and I am not sure in our current location how feasible it is to promote it heavily but I might do a tickler post on Country Groomer. The readership there is somewhat limited and I might be able to judge the feasibility of it if there is any response.
The problem is that all of this takes time and this is the slowest month of the year for groomers. My mantra right now is…. if I can make it through this month…. if I can make it through this month….
